What a fantastic day the Junior Class had  Thursday 23 November with our big day out to Coonawarra! We all travelled together in the car, entertained by our “back seat girls” (Annika and Ahnali) and their lovely singing. We arrived early at Coonawarra which meant we were able to fit in some archery! It was pretty tricky to hold the bow and arrow correctly, but everyone had a try. Well done Declan for having a go! Cooper sent all his arrows flying way past the target!

After that we had some morning tea before walking to the hut building area. We collected lots of logs to make a lean-to hut, while Jess (our Leader) made a fire for us to cook damper on.  We ate it with butter and jam. YUM! The children all climbed into the hut and we tested to see if it was waterproof……a bucket over the top! Just as well it was a hot day.

Next thing was lunch and then the climbing wall. All the children wore harnesses and had a go climbing the 25 ft wall. Congrats to Dek and Annika who made it to the top, but I was just as happy with everyone’s effort.

The flying fox over the lake was our next challenge! It was great! I even managed to get a turn! There was another school there with older kids, and they were amazed that we had Preps and Grade 1s going on the flying fox. Super effort from the kids.

We had planned to do canoeing in the afternoon, but as it was a bit stormy with some thunder, it was not safe to do. Instead we did the low ropes course, with one child climbing and two children “spotting” them –standing either side and helping them balance – a really good team work task.

It was an absolutely fantastic day, the children were great, having a really good go at everything. Thanks to parents for being so punctual with our drop off and collection of children.
