Last week’s Wednesday Science was a special one with a workshop visit from a team from Engineers Without Borders. This team from Monash University were made up of Civil, Aeronautical, Mechanical and Electrical engineers who presented to the students the role and challenges faced in engineering. They shared an example of a community in Cambodia where homes were threatened by flooding during the annual monsoon rains and floods.

Clifton Creek kids were then given a budget, a potential shopping list and a problem to solve- to design and build a structure that withstands a flood and accommodates the most people possible. We then tested our designs and modified where needed. The Engineering team were on hand to give one on one advice, support and encouragement.
